Chile Tours: Easter Island
Nearly 2,500 miles west of Chile's coast is one of the world's most famous archeological sites, Easter Island. A nature and culture lover's dream getaway is located upon a triangular island in the Pacific Ocean. Easter Island continues to intrigue scientists and travelers alike, dropping jaws of all. The indigenous inhabitants, the Rapa Nui, live among an extraordinary collection of archaeological wonders, including the iconic moai. These statutes form one of Rapa Nui's most enduring images. While these famous sculptures may be what first come to your mind when picturing Easter Island, there are many other worthwhile attractions and activities. On a Chile Tour of Easter Island you will be blown away by the 20,000 archeological sites, rich culture, volcanoes, scuba diving, and white sand beaches. There is so much to do on this tiny, raw patch of land.
I would suggest spending at least a few days on Easter Island. To get your bearings, first take a cultural tour. Such a tour should take you to Ahu Tahai, Ahu Tongariki, the Anthropological Museum, Ahu Akivi, Puna a Pau, and the cave Te Pahu. On another day try a few of the outdoor activities, for example there is excellent scuba diving in the untainted seas surrounding Easter Island. Or take a Rano Raruku Volcano tour on the southern tip of the island. The volcano's crater is full of rain water and lush vegetation and is one of the most beautiful parts of the island. Relax at the coral sand beach of Anakena, an important spot for Birdman rituals. Wherever you go on an Easter Island tour, it will be memorable and full of history and fun.
You can now stand in the mysterious presence of Easter Island and begin your next big adventure after a simple flight. Airline operator, LAN, just made it a little bit easier to visit secluded Easter Island. They recently announced new routes from the United States with a layover in Lima, Peru.
